Tom Van Heeke is Policy Lead for Mobility and Climate Change at General Motors. In this role, Tom works to advance GM’s policy considerations related to the decarbonization of the transportation sector, as well as urban mobility issues, products, and services. Prior to joining GM, Tom served in the Legislative Analyst’s Office in Sacramento, California, where he advised the Legislature on the state’s high-speed rail project, bicycle infrastructure programs, and statewide transportation funding. He eHe beggbegan his career with Frontier Group, a non-profit think tank, where he researched and wrote extensively on state and local transportation, energy, and environmental matters. He and his work have been quoted and featured by media outlets including the New York Times, the Associated Press, and E&E News, and he has testified as an expert witness before the California State Legislature on several occasions.
Tom is a graduate of Grinnell College and holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy.
