Scott Hassell is the director of environmental sustainability at Fifth Third Bank. He leads efforts to integrate environmental sustainability into the company’s strategy, risk management, and culture. Starting in late 2016, Scott led a team of internal and external partners focused on setting and achieving a goal to purchase 100% renewable power by 2022. The resulting Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was announced in March 2018 and the 80 MWac/120 MWdc Aulander Holloman Solar Project’s grand opening occurred on August 28, 2019. Previously, Scott worked at the RAND Corporation and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). Scott holds an M.B.A. from Yale, M.S. degrees from MIT, and a B.S. from Swarthmore College.
